MLK Day Update: Blacks Working Against Themselves

I can't help but chuckle.

WTF!?
A lot of black people are fucked up. There. I said it. This may be a generalization, but most black folks I see are really working AGAINST racism. Fortunately for me, I have some reasoning behind my statements.
So blacks believe they are oppressed by whites. I'm not denying the history of slavery, segregation, discrimination, or any other historical facts. But I do deny that racism against blacks exists to the degree and in the manner that they say it does.
I have a few black friends. There aren't a whole lot in my neighborhood, but the ones I do know or meet I seem to get along with just fine. I dare say that I don't even recognize their color when interacting with them. It just isn't a big deal to me. I'm more into judging by deeds. The same goes for most whites that I know. Maybe it is just the way it is here in the Northeast, but around here, color isn't that big a deal.
But the message we get from black celebraties (i.e. rappers, actors, and many political figures) is the opposite. They make it out to be as though we still live in the 1950's.
Why can't I say 'nigger'? Not that I would really want to anyway, but blacks have made a huge deal out of whites using this word. But are they really that sensitive about it? Why have Black Leaders not demanded that the word Nigger be eliminated from rap Songs, comedians' vocabulary, and black movies? Some try to circumvent the ignorance by saying it's really pronounced "Nigga". They claim the intent is defined "as they determine" along with the race of the person who uses it. Black activists drool over the continuing verbal racial tensions. It feeds their personal agenda of corrupt power over the poor and ignorant. They'll continue to play the race card with the aid of the liberal media assholes.
Which brings me to the real source of racism: Liberals. Liberals will have you believe that blacks do not get a fair shake in life, and need federal assistance. But this is called Enabling. To have blacks believe this notion will only keep them from engaging in opportunities. Why aren't the black leaders solving or discussing some of the more pressing issues - Over 70% of Black children grow up without the daily instruction of a father? Many wind up on the streets in gangs and idolize drug dealers. And who is there to misguide them? Liberals. The black self-given disadvantage is just what liberals need to feel important. Now they can create programs of assistance and use Federal dollars to give blacks a sense that they can not survive on their own, without the liberals' help. Well, fuck that, amd fuck them.
There is a direct correlation between economic status and average life span. This means that blacks, who are disproportionately poor (with the liberals' help), tend to have shorter life spans, especially black males. The average life expectancy of a black male is roughly 68.6. The retirement age of Social Security is set under current law to eventually rise to 67. You do the math, it's a total shaft. Fucking liberals. The term for that is preditory lending.
Finally, using black culture to separate themselves from whites is not benefiting. Call it having pride in your race or culture, but I don't see how that will break down remaining barriers. It only enforces them. It sort of seems like a gesture of resentment toward whites. Racism is in its decline, and all this in-your-face black culture (bling, big pimpin', etc) for the most part comes across to whites as keeping the culture gap as wide as possible.

Poor and Oppressed

Despite the diamond earings, this man has been kept down by the white man

Allen Iverson has not had any opportunities as a minority.

I guess the question I have is, what are these guys trying to prove? I mean, at one point in time just about all blacks in America were slaves, all poor and downtrodden. Now, you generally STILL have most blacks being below the poverty line. But you have like the 2% of blacks who really grabbed life by the testicles and now they go around dressed in $200,000 rabbit costumes drinking Krystal for breakfast, flying around in helicopters with 20 inch rims. It's hard to take them seriously. We get it, you aren't slaves. You're rich. What I don't get is if there is a deeper message. With that, I'll leave you with the link to the site that really made me laugh my ass off. PIMP CUPS, SILLY FUR COATS, AND TOUGH-GUY EXPRESSIONS, LOL

The next person who quotes the Declaration of Independence regarding 'all men created equal' and ties it in to an argument of racism gets stung in the testicles by a jellyfish. Jefferson was referring to the American colonists being equal to the English in regards to the right to be self-governing.

this is only a pressing issue because 'they' (and not only blacks, hell not even primarily blacks, are lured to distributing presently illicit pharmacuticals) are embracing the quite republican ideal of capitalism providing a good/service that the public demands. surely youd grant that capitalism is a beautiful thing. and as libertarians (? an assumption, true, but one i am relatively confident in makeing) surely you believe the war on drugs to be wasteful. furthermore, was this country ever about bringing races together? id argue that it was more about letting people express themselves in any manner they choose, and if that be purple coats and neckbending bling so be it. do black people really want to assimilate into white culture, or even assimilate white culture into their own? extremely doubtful. im sure theyd be content to simply get equal treatment wherever they went. true, they should stop relying on the government, but so should a shitload of poor southern white families. heres my deal- perhaps we cant let people starve, but we can abide by the "beggars cant be choosers" cliche. if you cannot provide for yourself, dont bitch about government cheese. poverty isnt supposed to be a way of life; it shouldnt be comfortable. endure it while you must, but either work like hell to get out of it, or shut the fuck up and take what comes your way. regardless, it isnt a black-white issue.

and one last morsel; shit-slinging name-calling rhetoric sure aint the way to convince "retards" to abandon their foolish ways for the greener pastures of enlightened libertarianism. fare the well.

i have just now posted a response on my blog and come here to post it as well. you cannot inflame me. unlike youself, i function more on the level of reason than that of emotion. i also have large enough testicles that i would attach my name to any post i made. here however is my response to your most recent ramblings. and a quick p.s.- your most recent post was practically fucking unitelligible. what the fuck are you talking about? surely i am not the only one confused. if so, then i apologize. i am dense. anyhow- my response.

i am the moron eh?
heres the deal there guy: my blog is for my amusement only. i count on the fact that i have few if any readers to justify my laziness when i am simply unwilling to post everyday. my intention here was certainly not to give you any free publicity. i found your rant somewhat entertaining, even if it was ill informed and intentionally inflammatory drivel. i made the apparent mistake of thinking you could engage in a civilized point/counterpoint discussion. oops, my bad. youd apparently like to scream like my brother about how weak my bloger is rather than commenting at all on the thought provoking bit of info i supplied you and your myrmidons (a boortz word for you). you did go off like a fire alarm with the response i hoped to elicit from my nascar post. i do sincerly appreciate your predicatability and irrationality. it continues to be quite enjoyable.

your logic is so flawed, its ridiculous.

you say because a few blacks have money through entratainment, racism doesnt exist. its EXTREMLY easy to say that as white person, since you yourself have never experienced racism. people think that its just burning crosses in frontyards. no its not that. let me show you a few examples that I personally have experienced in the last months.

A) when trying to rent a house, the realtor made up a regulation that disallowed me from renting the house. this was under the orders of the owner of the house, since any non-white, to him, would always be late with his payments, and easily fooled by small lies.

B) the public highschool in a certain area, a predominantly white, highly funded school, would not redraw their district lines since this would bring non-whites into the school. the lines were supposed to be re-drawn to better accomodate students, since this highschool had too many students. the disdain for non-whites led to building another building nearby to accomodate students (with money the school didn't have)instead of allowing non-whites to enter the school.

thats just a few basic examples of subtle racism in my life in the past 3 months or so. of course, a white republican like you wouldn't know this. i am a middle class person, and you still see things like that in my life. its sad that they happen, but sadder is the ingnorance or perhaps denial of the people towards the issues. its funny how propaganda can blur the issues - my favorite recent example is george w. bush. speaking of him, notice that 50% of the people who voted for bush consider al-qaueda and hussein to be the same thing, even though the bush administration acknowledge there is NO LINK between them. Tony Blair's approval rating reached historic lows when he announced that no wmd's had been found, yet Bush's went relatively unchanged. how is this possible? are people just dumber here? you help me answer that. consider the fact that the "in your face black culture" is promoted by whtie-run corporations, and is mainly consumed by whites. if ANYONE is making blacks idolize drug dealers, its not the rappers who give the message, they are entretainers who are given money by whites and promoted by whites. if whites didn't give money for people to be pimps, no one would try to promote it as entretainment. if the white media (mtv, radio stations) didnt promote it, there would be no exposure of these ideals. yes, it is fucked up for a few rappers to talk about pimping so much. but you must understand WHY its fucked up. and also, you need to understand that people didnt want to become pimps because of the "in your face black culture" in that thousands of years of disrespect for women wasnt due to the latest snoop dogg video. and also, since you have never been poor in your life, you dont understand how hard it is to break the cycle of poverty. saying liberals make blacks poor is possibly the most "stupidest" thing in the whole post. ill try to make an analogy to the whole situation - 2 children are building a tower with legos. 1 is white, the other isn't. when both children are about 1/2way through, the white kid's big brother comes in and beats up the other kid and destroys his tower, but the little brother doesnt notice. the white kid finishes, and looks over at the other's structure, and sees the other child only halfway through. he asks "how come youre not done? i did it!" thats you right there, asking the people on welfare "how come youre not done? i did it!"

i hope you have a happy life, and someday you understand what im saying
peace

Not to mention he proved MY points. I don't know who here is familliar with the term 'Gerrymandering', but I believe it to be counterproductive to social progress, and this guy just praised it. Dumbass.

Also, I like your analogy, however exaggerated it might be. And don't accuse me of not being poor, I'm going to be digging through my car seats this morning to try to get the newspaper on the way to work.

"I don't know who here is familliar with the term 'Gerrymandering', but I believe it to be counterproductive to social progress, and this guy just praised it. Dumbass."
which guy? gerrymandering is when you re-draw district lines in such a way as to promote your party's political power. the closest i even came to speaking on that is when i said that other would refuse to re-draw district lines to better accomodate students from overpopulated schools to under-populated schools.

i remember a few months ago the dc school system could n't come up with $20 million, so they had to layoff a lot of teachers, around the same time bush was spending billions on the war. as to slap kids in dc in the face, he is having an ignauration party in dc for $40 million. how does bush justify this? are people dumb, mindless sheep or do they just not care?

what bullshit. by the end (before he got killed by right-wing racists like yourselves) MLK was advocating socialist policies and speaking out on vietnam.

I guess my point is: A) Black people, you cannot get my sympathy. This is the land of opportunity. B)Just look at those black guys on MTV cribs with the talking ferraris and the jets with swimming pools in them. I mean, this 'oppressed' business is losing credibility, stop milking it.

yes and mexicans can get jobs playing gardeners on tv. that doesn't mean there's a whole lot of opportunity, nor does it mean blacks have the same sort of opportunities available to them as whites do.

Holy Shit. I just checked out your site, and got a refreshing fucking belly laugh out of it. Let me get this straight: You guys are white Canadians that think you are black? You even use "ebonics"! ROFLMGDMFAO!

Nobody thinks they are black except our one token (who is). but we just keep him around so no one calls us wiggers.

however you're still a reactionary idiot. i can highlight any of your post on MLK day and point out what's stupid about it. ie. the last paragraph is basically a call for blacks to drop what they're doing and embrace "white culture," which i guess ammounts to NASCAR, desperate housewives, and lad magazines these days.

was it intentional for your argument to so closely follow the arguements presented for segregation in Brown v. Board? they said, "look at all these wonderful black people who aren't poor! segregation obviously isnt hurting blacks because look at W.E.B. Dubois. a wonderful human being! surely segragation cant be that bad if someone like him comes out of it!"

I guess you are right. There really is no sense in having ambitions. You're right. Blacks are just plain hopeless. Why even try. I guess the other 98% are just destined to be poor ghetto guys, and there's no reason to think otherwise. I love how you think.

Whew! Really dodged a bullet there. Instead of conceding you are in basic agreement with the people who oppose the descision of Brown v. Board, you claim to be helping blacks (a classic KKK strategy, btw) and saying I am being racist. I never said a person shouldn't have ambitions. My point is, the government sets people up to be poor. To fail. And a few outstanding people can get by, and get rich, but the vast majority can't. Not very many are born outsanding basketball players or businessmen, and those who don't unfortuanetly, have a lowered opportunities. For example, George W. Bush is accepted at Harvard and Yale for being rich, white, and the President's son, while the average poor man or woman does not have that advantage. The one thing I'm NOT saying is be a conformist and let it be that way. No. Just like the people in Brown v. Board didn't say "segregation damages people, but oh well, too bad". Change must occur. And people like you who ignore it and say the problem doesn't exist are the people who are doing everything in their power NOT to change and NOT to fix the problem. In other words, the problem's not "liberals who make people want to be poor" by giving them help when they really need it. The problem is the average citizen who elects leaders who don't want to do anything about the problem, and if anything, only worsen it. I'm out of this forever. Don't even bother responding. Have a good day.

interesting post. the pictures + captions were actually kind of funny. but i disagree with a lot of your argument. let me start by saying i'm half black, half white...white mom, black father, grew up in a mostly white town, etc...so i have spent my entire life seeing things from both sides, never really choosing one.

it's good that you have a few black friends, and it's good that the blacks you do know or meet seem to get along fine. but the operative word here is seem, because it's highly unlikely that they would tell you, a stranger, or even you, a good friend, about the subtle and not-so-subtle examples of racism they encounter on a daily basis. one, because you, as a white person, probably wouldn't understand since you haven't experienced it specifically, and two, because they'd probably appear to be "complaining and whining," as you claim the celebrities are.

as far as the different picture that celebrities paint, i'd need specific examples to respond better, but there's several reasons for why that might be. first, when celebrities speak, people obviously listen. the media soaks up celebrity soundbytes like a sponge. so of course famous blacks are going to be more vocal about issues that "everyday" blacks remain silent on. also, most of these celebrities that have "made it" have made it out of harsh economic and social conditions, in environments probably much more oppressive than the environment your black friends live in, so naturally they would have more tales of oppression to tell.

as far as the word nigger goes, there's a few reasons why you can't say it. i can't speak for all blacks, but i am very sensitive about its use. when you hear that word used by a white person it rings bells you dont want to hear, and makes you feel like a thing. i don't think there will ever be a time when a white person can say it without the negative connotation it held for hundreds of years coming along with it.

a black person saying it is very different. actually, it's evidence of what blacks have been doing for a long time -- flipping the proverbial script. taking what has historically been used to keep us down and using it to our advantage. it's a way of saying, "oh, you think i'm a nigger, well guess what, i am. i'm a nigga, this is my nigga, we're all niggas around here." a way of taking something potentially damaging and defusing its power.

as far as liberals being the real source of racism, i disagree with that. they may add fuel to the fire, but they didn't start it. racism is based on the ludicrous notion that skin color, out of all other human characteristics, somehow defines an individual. it was invented to justify oppression and mistreatment, and it continues today because all of us, black, white, yellow, whatever, buy into the notion that skin color means something more than skin color.

you do bring up a lot of valid issues that face the black community and i agree that self-pity won't get anyone anywhere. i think that the more people pay attention to racism, the more they fall victim to it. but racism does still exist. i can attest to that. sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's not, but it's there, and as a black person you learn how to deal with it because you have to. there's really nothing i can say to explain it. it simply has to be experienced.

and as far as the "big rappers" and what not dressing up in rabbit suits or whatever, to me it's a way of saying, without saying it, "look where i am now," with an implication of "look where i came from." their outfits and demeanor may seem outrageous, flashy, gaudy, whatever. but what's underneath all of that is years of experiences that weren't outrageous, clothes that weren't flashy, jewels that weren't gaudy if there were jewels at all. to me those pictures of "have" are telling stories of "have not" in their own way.
